Dynamic HTML

While HTML has come a long way in designability, it's just now beginning to move forward in programmability. This book shows how the new standard for dynamic HTML, proposed by the World Wide Web Consortium, will make it possible to create pages that will modify themselves, with little or no server intervention, after they've been downloaded. A "deep" HTML page created under this new specification may contain, hidden within itself, a feature as simple as a collapsed outline, or as complex as an active navigation system. The book demonstrates how ActiveX and applet developers benefit from using HTML as the foundation for a full-fledged interface, and how users will benefit from not having to wait for slow or backlogged servers to respond.
